Sorry, No Picture! Takin are unique among the family Bovidae and are difficult to characterize. For ease the takin is known as a 'goat-antelope'. It is believed that like the musk-ox, the takin is a relic from days gone by. Having been forced out by more successful members of this family, such as goats and sheep, small populations of takin remain in inaccessable mountainous regions in the same way that musk-ox live in the inhospitable north.MORE!
