Muntjac
The 6 species of mutjac are unique as they are among the most primitive members of the deer
family. These small deer stand no taller then 25 inches at the shoulder and have both tusks and
horns. The tusks are formed by very long upper canines and are used for defence when the animal
is held at bay. The horns, which may reach up to 1 foot in length, are also used for defence. The
muntjac is, however, a shy animal and will generally run when threatened.MORE!
