Chinese Water Deer
Chinese water deer serve as a link between the deer we know today and those which lived many
years ago. At one time deer had tusks. These tusks slowly became obsolete as deer developed
antlers. Today several species of deer exist which still have tusks, linking them with their distant
ancestors. The Chinese water deer, and its close relative known as the muntjac, are two such
