Family Cycadaceae
Cycads look a bit like palm trees and have short thick
stems covered with leathery leaf bases. The tallest
species can reach 19 metres and the smallest is only a
few inches high. They have fern-like leaves and simple
cones and even though they produce vast quantities of
pollen like wind-pollinated plants, it is probable that
insects are responsible for carrying pollen grains to the
female plants.
