Crane Flower, Bird of Paradise Flower Strelitzia reginae is a South African species, which is grown as an ornamental plant. It grows about a metre tall from underground rhizomes and its stiff leathery leaves are bluish-green. A boat-shaped green bract, or modified leaf, holds several long-stemmed flowers that are orange, blue or yellow in different species of this genus. Each flower has two pointed petals that stick straight up, and five stamens. [CH] {EN}
