Trout-lily
Trout-lily, Dog's-tooth Violet, Adder's Tongue
Erythronium americanum is one of the first of the
woodland spring flowers to appear and its mottled leaves
can often be seen growing over a wide area. Each plant
has an underground bulb, two broad leaves and a single
nodding flower at the top of its stem. The sepals and
petals are yellow and curve backwards on themselves.
