Asparagus
Asparagus Asparagus officinalis is a European plant
that has escaped from cultivation and may be found
growing wild in sandy soil or in salt marshes. It has an
underground stem that puts up new shoots every year.
The feathery green growth is made up of branching
stems with tiny scale-like leaves. Asparagus flowers in
the early summer and the fruits are little red berries. The
young shoots that the plant produces are eaten as a
vegetable.
