Fertilization
When a pollen grain lands on the stigma of a flower of
the same species, a pollen tube grows down the style to
the ovary and one male nucleus from the pollen tube
fuses with the egg cell, while a second male nucleus
fuses with another part of the female gametophyte to
form a food supply for the seed called the endosperm.
Then the wall of the ovule hardens to form the seed
coat and changes occur in the ovary which develops into a
fruit.
