Cucumber
Cucumber Cucumis sativus is an annual plant
originally from Asia. The green unripe fruits are eaten
as a vegetable either raw or pickled. Very small
cucumbers are called gherkins and these are suitable for
pickling. When the fruits ripen they turn yellow and swell
in the middle and at this stage the flesh is bitter and the
seeds are tough.
