Cantaloupe
Cantaloupe Cucumis melo reticulatus is a kind of
muskmelon. Its edible fruits develop on a vine which
has angled leaves and tendrils for climbing. The flowers
are yellow and bell-shaped. The fruit has a thin rind
marked with a network of ridges and the sweet juicy flesh
surrounding the seeds is an orange-yellow colour. The
melon more correctly known as cantaloupe in Europe is
a slightly different variety Cucumis melo cantalupensis
which was first developed in the Italian town of
Cantalupo.
