Bunchberry
Bunchberry Cornus canadensis grows in damp acid woodlands. What
appears to be a single four-petalled flower is really a cluster of tiny,
inconspicuous, greenish flowers surrounded by four large, white, modified
leaves or bracts. Below the flowering head is a whorl of green leaves and
below these are one or two pairs of much smaller leaves. Veins on the leaf
have a distinctive pattern, curving towards the leaf tip.The fruits of
Bunchberry appear as a cluster of red berries.
