Flowering Dogwood

FLOWERING DOGWOOD Flowering Dogwood Cornus nuttallii is a tree of the forested west coast of North America. It has simple oval leaves with wavy margins and pointed tips and they are arranged in opposite pairs. Spectacular flowers appear in the spring and sometimes again in the fall. The actual flowers are small greenish and inconspicuous clustered in dense heads but they are surrounded by 4 to 6 large, showy, petal-like bracts. Fruits are formed as bright red clusters and the leaves turn bronze or red in the fall. [CH] {NT}
