Banded Sand Snake
This small, smooth bodied snake glides through the sand as if floating across the water. The Banded Sand
snake reaches only 25cm in length and is characterized by it's yellow to red patterned skin. The skin
pattern is created by 24-48 dark crossbands. Living exclusively in sandy terrain, the Banded Sand snake
feeds on sand-burrowing cockroaches, and a multitude of soft-bodied insects. This snake ranges from central
Arizona south into Mexico.
