Red-bellied Snake
The Red-bellied snake is a small snake, reaching no more than 41cm in length. The brown, gray or black
skin is broken by a single line, 4 lines or 5 lines. These lines are often quite light. The underside
of this species is red, yellow, orange or black. Red-bellied snakes can be found in moist sphagnum bogs and
rolling woodlands. They feed on slugs, worms and insects found under lumber and scattered debris. This
species covers a large range from Saskatchewan to Nova Scotia, south from Florida to Texas.
