Glass Snake 2
Like other lizards the glass snake is able to shed its tail when in danger. When the tail is shed it also breaks apart into smaller pieces. The remaining body of the glass snake is quite small, similar in size to the broken segments of tail. Hence the lizard appears to have shattered. Various species of glass snake are found in Europe, Asia, Africa and North America. [BM] {FW}
