In Canada and in the northern United States the snowshoe rabbit is quite common. Smaller than the common hare, the snowshoe rabbit reaches only 16 inches in length. The snowshoe rabbit is distinguished by its pure white winter coat and matted fur feet, creating little snowshoes.
