Sumatran Hare
This rare hare, known as the Sumatran hare, is found in isolated areas of Sumatra. Ranging in size
from 14 to 16 inches in length, the Sumatran hare is most easily recognized by the remarkably
short ears. The shortness of its ears, so unlike that of other hares, can perhaps be explained by the
fact that Sumatran hares live in dense, cool undergrowth where large ears would cause great heat
loss. MORE!
