Pygmy Hippo
The pygmy hippo shares many similarites with the common hippopotamus. However. it is
considered a separate species. The pygmy hippo is smaller and lighter than the hippopotamus. It
reaches 5 feet in length and stands only 2 1/2 feet at the shoulder. The pygmy hippo, weighing 600
lbs, is a lightweight in comparison with its 4 ton relative. Like the hippopotamus, the pygmy hippo
has small eyes and ears and the head is smaller in proportion to the body.MORE!
