Living with no more than 10 members to a herd, the gerenuks feed on foliage such as the acacia. They require little water and are able to go without water for extended periods of time. Being very shy, gerenuks flee at the slightest disturbance. With necks held horizontal to the ground they slip below the branches of the thorn bush, stopping occasionally to extend their necks vertically and scan the area. MORE! [BM] {FW}
