HELP INDEX NEXT UP PREVIOUS FEEDBACK ATG Plains-wanderer

Sorry, No Picture! In most birds, the male is larger, more colourful and dominant, not so with the Plains-wanderer. The plumage of the female is red and brown, speckled with black in a delightfully intricate pattern. The plumage of the male is slightly less colourful and lacks the patterns seen on the female. The female is 5in. in length, the male is smaller. When the eggs have been laid in breeding season the male incubates the eggs and cares for the young chicks. This rare Australian bird is found in grasslands. [BM] {FW}
