Mesite

The 3 species of mesite can be found on Madagascar. Mesites are small birds with long tails and rather short wings. They are brown with one species having a white or red breast and throat. The Mesite is a ground bird, and there has never been an accurate report as to if this bird is able to fly. Like other ground birds it is able to run quickly. Mesites feed on worms, insects and seeds. [BM] {FW}
