Bee-Eater
The several species of bee-eater birds are quite fantastic. Brightly coloured, these birds
have a taste for the dangerous. Feeding on stinging insects such as bees and wasps, the
bee-eater has a resistance to their venom and has a habitual way of removing the stinger. By
rubbing the abdomen and tapping the insect the bee-eater is able to dislodge the sting
before consumption. In this photograph a White fronted bee-eater has captured a meal. MORE!
