Roller

Rollers are beautiful birds with colourful plumage and acrobatic flare. During courtship the roller climbs to great heights, only to descend, wings closed as a colourful streak plummeting to earth. Ranging in size from 9 to 13 inches the roller has a fairly long tail and a strong build. The plumage of the roller is primarily blue, green and red. Rollers feed on insects caught in mid air or while at rest. The majority of rollers are found in Africa. [BM] {FW}
