Salp
The cylindrical sea creature known as Salp can be found in the warm, high seas, living within
plankton. They are transparent and are very simple physiologically. Food and oxygen enter one body
opening and exit a posterior opening. This constant movement of water through the body creates
a gentle jet propulsion, assisting the Salp in locomotion. The soft, jelly-like body ranges in size from
several centimetres to approximately 10 cm. This is a salp chain.
