As adults, barnacles become grave problems as they attach to objects. These marine dwellers are usually covered by a hard shell. There are two types of barnacle: goose barnacles and rock barnacles. Goose barnacles attach by means of a long stalk and commonly attach to ships and large marine animals. Rock barnacles often attach to rocks in the shallow tidal zone and are stalkless. [BM] {RH}
