Taoism is both a religion and philosophy arising from China. It is practised in China, Korea and
Manchuria. It was founded by Lao-tzu, born 604BC. Lao-tzu means "The Old Philosopher" which indeed is
an appropriate name for this scholar. For when he put his philosophies to print he was indeed a very
old philosopher. At the age of ninety, Lao-tzu was a deeply disheartened man. He felt that the rulers
