Buddhism arose in India in the 6th Century BC. It would eventually emerge to form another distinct religion known as Hinduism. Those who belong to the Buddhist faith are followers of a man by the name of Siddhartha Gautama. He was the son of a king born c.563BC and died 483BC. He has been given the honourable title of Buddha, which is an adjective meaning "the enlightened one." Buddhism is a way of thinking and living out one's life. [BM] {ED}
