Rhodonite
Rhodonite (manganese silicate) is a red or pink
mineral that tarnishes black when exposed to air. It develops in metamorphic rock,
particularly in rock that is rich with silica and manganese. Sizable masses of rhodonite
occur in Finland and Sweden. Quality rhodonite is used in decorative stones and jewelry.
