Seed plants
In Seed Plants the female eggs remain attached to the
mother plant until
male pollen grains arrive to fertilise them. They can
then be protected and
nourished by the mother plant until they are ripe seeds
with their own
food supply, so when they have been dispersed they have
a good chance of
surviving to grow into new plants. This food supply
also makes some seeds
attractive food for animals.
