Seed Plant Sex
All sorts of methods are used for getting male pollen
to female flowers and for dispersing the ripe seeds. Some
plants produce huge amounts of pollen which is blown by
the wind and some, by chance, falls on female flowers of
the same species. For example, the yellow powder you see collecting
on the surface of northern lakes in the spring is the
pollen of coniferous trees. This picture shows male
pollen-producing cones of a pine tree.
