Flowers
Many seed plants produce flowers with bright colours, perfume and nectar in
order to attract insects that will transport their pollen grains to the
female parts of another flower. Some flowers have evolved to attract one
particular insect pollinator. For example, one orchid looks like a female
insect and thus lures the male insect who then carries the pollen directly
to another orchid of the same species. Flowers of some Arum species
actually produce heat and provide warmth and food for the beetles which
pollinate them.
