Blue Flag Iris versicolor grows to a metre in height in marshes and wet meadows. It has sword-shaped leaves and one to three pale purple flowers on each flowering stalk. The three sepals are longer than the three petals and they have a yellow hairy spot at the base. The Blue Flag looks much like the cultivated garden iris. [CH] {GW}
