Orchard Grass or Cock's-foot Grass Dactylis glomerata is a European native which now grows throughout North America. It is a medium-sized, fairly coarse grass which is a useful hay species. The flowering heads which appear in the summer, are quite easy to recognise as the flowers are crowded into dense masses at the ends of branches and perhaps look a bit like the shape of a chicken's foot.
