Timothy
Timothy Phleum pratense is an important grass for
grazing cattle and making hay. It has shallow roots and is
quite hardy in cold climates. Its slender flowering spike
suggests its other name of Cat's-tail. The name Timothy
is in memory of Timothy Hansen who introduced this
plant to the United States around 1720.
