Sweetflag
Sweetflag Acorus calamus has long stiff upright leaves
like an iris and the flowering stem is flattened so that it
looks much like one of the leaves. A naked spadix
bearing the flowers sticks out like a yellow-green finger
and a long leaf-like extension of the flowering stem
continues above it. Sweetflag grows in marshes and its
rootstock has a sweet smell.
