White Ash

White Ash Fraxinus americana is a graceful tree with light grey bark that is furrowed into a neat somewhat diamond-shaped pattern of ridges. The buds on the twigs are arranged in opposite pairs. The leaf is divided into seven pointed oval leaflets on little stalks and the male and female flowers are borne on separate trees. The fruits are single winged seeds. [CH] {NT}
