African Violet

African Violet Saintpaulia ionantha is a popular potted plant that grows well indoors. It comes from Africa but it is not a violet though the flowers are often a deep violet colour. The leaves are heart-shaped and covered in fuzzy hairs and the flowers are large for a plant of this size and grouped in small clusters. Some varieties have pink flowers and some are white. [CH] {FW}
