Peanut
Peanut Arachis hypogaea is extensively cultivated for food and oil.
The flower is yellow and the upper petal is much longer than the others.
The fruit grows in a most unusual way developing a long "peg" that grows
down into the soil to bury the ovary underground. There the seeds develop
in small pods while the fruit absorbs nutrients directly from the soil.
