Tamarind
Tamarind Tamarindus indica is an African species also found in
southern Asia. It is a large evergreen tree which produces a hard wood used
in furniture-making. The leaves are divided into many pairs of leaflets and
the flowers are borne in yellow clusters. The fruits are long curved pods
which contain the seeds. Juice from the fruit is used in drinks and
medicines.
