Desert Cacti
Cacti show many adaptations to living in desert regions
where every drop of water has to be conserved. The
roots of cacti may spread over a wide area to absorb as
much water as possible after a rainstorm or the roots
may be thickened to store available water. The stems
are thick and succulent and they are coated with a waxy
substance to help prevent water loss.
