Spider-flower
Spider-flower Cleome spinosa is a tropical American species that can
be found further north where it has escaped from gardens. The plant grows
about a metre high and has leaves with five to seven leaflets branching off
from the same point (palmate). The flowers have four pink or white petals
that are narrow at the base so that they appear stalked and six long
stamens protrude from each flower. The stems of spider-flower are somewhat
sticky and hairy.
