When the carbon dioxide and the water molecules collide, the lighter Hydrogen atoms (black) swing forward towards the carbon atom (pink).
If the force of the collision is great enough,
two Oxygen atoms may form a covalent bond and drift off as a molecule of Oxygen gas (O2).
