Peat Mosses (Sphagnum) grow in swampy, acidic areas.
Because of the acidity
there is little decay of dead material, which
accumulates year by year.
Eventually this organic matter forms peat which is used
in some parts of the
world as fuel. Here, workers in Wales cut compacted
peat.
