Amanita Family
The Amanitas (Amanitaceae) have mushroom caps with plates
of tissue called gills on the underside. The spores are
released through the gills. In this family the gills are
usually not attached to the stalk. In all members of the
Amanita family the mushroom emerges looking a bit like an
egg enclosed in a veil of tissue. This breaks open and its
remains can be seen round the base of the stalk.
