The tentacles of the sea anemone surround the oral disk (mouth). Among the tentacles are nematocysts (stinging cells) which are used in the capture of prey. Sea anemone attach to hard surfaces by way of a pedal disk. Some sea anemone creep along the sea floor very slowly. In some species the pedal disk breaks off and a new individual grows. MORE!
