When the Chuckwalla has warmed up in the morning sun it begins searching for food. Being a herbavore, this species eats leaves, flowers and fruit. If frightened the huckwalla will wedge itself into a rock crevice by inflating its body. This shy vegetarian can be found primarily in areas where there are large boulders. The Chuckwalla ranges from California, to Nevada, Utah, Arizona and south into Mexico. [BM] {AS}
