Snake-necked Turtle
The snake-necked turtle has a very long neck which is not drawn into the body vertically but is tucked
in sideways. By tucking the head in sideways and pushing the snout into a loose fold of skin this turtle
has a unique form of protection. There are approximately 30 different species of snake-necked turtle,
the majority spending their lives in the water. The average length is 15 cm. However, they can grow
as large as 38 cm, with necks 28 cm long. MORE!
