Tree Shrew
There are between 15 and 25 different species of tree shrews. These mammals have given rise to
considerable classification controversy. Some hold that tree shrews are the lowest of the primates
while others believe that they should be classified with the shrews. The tree shrew shares
characteristics with the lemur, a primate, and it has been suggested that tree shrews are the early
type of animal from which monkeys, apes and chimpanzees arose. MORE!
