The dugong shares many characteristics with its closest relative the manatee. Both manatee and dugong are known as sea cows. A separation in the paddle-like anal fin of the dugong is the most noticeable difference between the two families. The dugong reaches approximately 9 feet in length, has a large, rounded body and a blunt muzzle. Stiff bristles surround the muzzle and the eyes are very small. MORE! [BM] {FW}
