Mangabey 2
The male mangabey is the larger sex and is distinguished by a furless, skin rump known as an
ischial callosities. The females has a monthly cycle, marked by a swelling of her genitalia. These
male and female characteristics make the mangabeys quite similar to baboons. The various species
of mangabey differ considerably in colour and facial appearance. Mangabeys are found in central
Africa.
